Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork.

It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation.

The benefits of Swedish massage are wide-ranging and include increased circulation, enhanced mental clarity, relief from aches and pains, decreased muscle tension, greater flexibility, stimulation of nutrients and oxygen into the muscles and tissue, it helps carry away metabolic waste, and aid in breaking down accumulated fascia, can help breakdown scar tissue, and increased blood flow.  Receiving a Swedish massage will aid in relaxation, decrease stress,  lower tension levels, and aid in the ability to get better sleep.

Ear Reflexology

Ear reflexology or auriculotherapy relieves stress by stimulating certain pressure points on the ear which signals the nerve centers to send signals to help the body facilitate healing, pain reduction, and overall wellness. Through the use of specific points on the ear we can together work to ease stress, anxiety, PTSD, depression, headaches, allergies, and a variety of common health and mental health concerns.   Many find ear reflexology a peaceful and relaxing experience and often times Lora will provide you with a point or two you can use at home between treatments.

Myofascial Therapies

Myo = Muscle   Fascia (connective tissue)

Myofascial Therapies is a specialized massage designed to release muscle discomfort and pain and increases range of motion.  It can aid in the reduction of headaches and pain and can assist with better range of motion.

This massage is performed only after your therapist has fully warmed your muscles thorough special techniques and is applied in such a fashion to elongate and open up the muscle.

Myofascial Therapy differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level.

Myofascial Therapy assist each client in self healing, and addresses specific problems with the goal of restoring balance.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, Lymphatic Drainage can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body.

Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body.

These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.

During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points.

This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Shiatsu on the Table

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of massage therapy  invented at the beginning of the 20th century.  In 1964 the Japanese government recognized it as a form of medical therapy.  There are many types of Shiatsu massage, but all follow the same general principals.

The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure).

Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.

Shiatsu is finger pressure applied to specific areas of the body and assisted stretching to promote energy flow throughout the body.   The therapist will apply touch with open hands, closed hands, and targeted pressure with thumb and/or finger pressure.  It is important to ensure the client is properly breathing to permit the proper penetration of the muscles which encourages the proper energy flow.

The benefits to Shiatsu Massage are abundant.  The client will gain relaxation, better flow of blood, more efficient circulation throughout the body, and a sense of peace and calmness.  It can aid in digestive issues, it can promote a healthy glow to your skin, it can ease pain in your muscles and joints, it can assist in a better quality of sleep and restfulness, reduce stress, tension, anxiety, and depression.  It can help reduce the lingering effects of a cold, respiratory infection, and sinus issues.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body.   Deep tissue work is designed for local areas of pain or tension, this massage is preformed with slow deep pressure which is applied to your muscles in a fashion to allow your body to most benefit from this work.

Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries.

Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you receive the maximum benefit.   Deep tissue is not designed to inflict pain though you may experience some soreness during or after the treatment.

Deep Tissue is great to combine with other forms of Massage.  Ask for details related to combination massages.

Thai Massage

Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than most other forms of massage therapy. It's also called Thai Yoga massage, because I use my hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like postures and stretches. My clients say Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed during the session. A single Thai massage session will help you release stress and relieve pain, and help you function more effectively at work and home.

Cancer/Oncology Massage

Oncology Massage is a special type of massage developed specifically for cancer patients. Cancer patients have unique needs which must be addressed to make sure that a massage is beneficial to their health. I focus my attention on creating a gentle, nurturing environment for you to relax into.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
